We rely on a wide range of skills and experience within our team. This is both during our rescues and with all the other tasks needed to maintain the team. We are always happy to consider applications for membership from all walks of life.
Membership of A&SSAR can be any combination of these three types;
- Cliff Members - Skilled and experienced with rescue and working at height
- Search Members - Skilled and experienced with Land Search and Rescue
- Support Members - Those who make valuable contributions in keeping A&SSAR running, but do not routinely get involved in rescue
Those applying for membership will be required to attend a selection event over a weekend. If selected then a probationary (aspirant) period of typically one year follows before full membership of the Search & Rescue Team is granted. Membership of other more specialist areas of the team will be by invitaion once search membership is given. During the aspirant period and throughout membership, training on all aspects of the teams operation is provided.
